The Truck Safety Coalition is proud to support S. 559 and H.R. 983, the Parental Bereavement Act of 2019 (also known as the Sarah Grace-Farley-Kluger Act). This commonsense legislation would amend the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 to provide leave because of the death of a son or daughter.

As an organization that works with parents who have lost children in large truck crashes, our volunteers know firsthand the toll such grief can take on an individual. Returning to a sense of normalcy can be difficult and it is not something that happens quickly or at all for some.

We urge lawmakers to support this bipartisan, bicameral bill and ensure that parents who are going through one of the most difficult experiences of their lives are afforded the protections in the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.
