On June 23, 2023, Perla Andrade was traveling north on I-55 when her vehicle ran out of fuel. She pulled over onto the shoulder at 3:13 a.m. and exited her car. Within two minutes, she was struck by a semi-truck that immediately fled the scene.
Perla was killed. The driver of the semi-truck has yet to be found and brought to justice.
Perla was a loving mother of two who always went out of her way to help others. She liked long drives, her job at BP, the fall season, and dressing up for Halloween. According to her family and close friends, she was always the life of the party, and she is deeply missed by all of them.
