On December 11, 2017, Dave Fons was involved in a truck crash while visiting his son and his family in Fort Myers, FL. Dave was driving a compact rental vehicle and was hit by a fully loaded dump truck that failed to yield to a red light.
Dave was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a hard-working entrepreneur in the earthmoving and road construction business his whole life, and was no stranger to the risks that trucks pose.
His family created the Dave Fons Memorial Fund for the Advocacy of Truck Safety in an effort to prevent other tragedies like this from occurring. With their connections to the construction industry, they are dedicated to raising awareness, supporting education, and advocating for meaningful change.
