On July 10, 2014, Daniel McGuire was killed and seven others were injured when a truck driver hauling two tons of dirt lost control on northbound Highway 17 near Lexington Reservoir. The brakes on two trailers failed, and the truck driver barreled into 10 vehicles sitting in slowed traffic.
The truck driver had only had a truck license for three months at the time of the crash.
